WHAT IS SPANISH
HILL?
Spanish Hill is a huge lone mound located in South Waverly, PA. It is just 1/4 mile east of the Chemung River (the western branch of the Susquehanna above Tioga Point), and just south of Waverly, NY and the New York state border.
It is the kind of place that depending on your view of it, it can stop you in your tracks at its grandness.
There are many things about Spanish Hill that I have learned since I started building this site in February of 2004. While I try to keep this site up-to-date, I also try not to add information until I have a good understanding of it myself. For that reason, I can tell you that you should check back often, as more and more people are coming to my site and helping me with my research. It is quite possible that many new aspects concerning the hill and our local history will be revealed soon.
The following is a video disussing my beliefs about Spanish Hill and what it was used for.
Please use the following links to learn more about what we know about the hill today: Spanish Hill is currently private property - no trespassing is advised. |
