Where were all these earthworks?
The truth is that THOUSANDS of ancient earthworks were found east if the
Rocky Mountains, and they were not all in Ohio and the Mississippi
Valley.

I
am especially intrigued about the footnote on that page:

Later authors would report on these earthworks as well - such as Cyrus
Thomas in his work for the Smithsonian Institute in 1891. Spanish Hill
was actually reported about in this report.

ancient earthwork)


While they got the acreage wrong, they got the rest right.
(Spanish Hill was part of PA later....) See General John S. Clark's
survey of the hill in 1878 below: (the fine print at the bottom says,
"Showing remnants of old fortifications.")
