Below you will find some of the strangest artifacts that I know of from Spanish Hill and the area surrounding it:

These are all items from the Ted Keir collection.

ALL OF THESE ARTIFACTS WERE FOUND EITHER ON OR ON THE RIVER FLATS BENEATH SPANISH HILL
Grid Stone

This stone is about two inches thick and on one side has this grid that seems to be "burnt" into it.

Measurements and information about the above sandstone gridstone:

- 10 1/2 inches at it's widest points

-  average 8 inches wide

- The three parallel lines - running most horizontal above - are 2 inches apart exactly

- The ends seem to be worn down- all the edges are smooth - -there is no rough edge on it.

- To me - the stone seems like it was made of clay, as the lines seems as if someone ran their finger through clay to make the grid lines...

This seems to be an effigy / ceremonial piece to me.

I think it would have been used like this...

Here is the back of the artifact shown above.

See how it is "hollowed out" - like it would fit a staff into it?

This stone looks like it has been worked, but doesn't seem too extraordinary...

That is until you look closely...

This deer etching is on the upper left area of the stone above...

and this turkey etching is on the lower right quadrant

This the back of that same stone..
