This is page 3 of the Cowles Collection showing actual artifacts form Spanish Hill and the surrounding area.

You will note that when Ellsworth Cowles was doing his research - he marked items from Spanish Hill - from "Carantouan." Also - note that the "palisade line" is from the area at the southeast base of the hill, where Cowles found the prehistoric village and effigy hearth.

Ellsworth Cowles put all of his "finds" on cardboard backing with the information concerning where they were found and in what year.  You can read most of the writing on these boards in these pictures quite easily.
